I don't get it, you didn't see that huge flame front, or exhaust valve opening? Or you meant you wanted it to be a better shot of the piston moving in the bore?

So the valve opens and fuel gets sprayed. I suppose the explosion causes the cylinder to move down. What does the other valve do?

I mean I wanna see stroke 3 and 4.
Still a very cool vid. You can see the vaporization of the fuel/air as it's drawn into the cylinder.
Such a simple function, such a simple motor, yet still a beauty.
No, the camshaft opens the valves.Originally posted by: daveymark
so the exhaust valve is on the left? does the cylinder moving down basically suck the exhaust valve open?
Why? Combustion is combustion. It would look the same. Only difference would be, there might be more valves.Originally posted by: GTaudiophile
Looks like some simple POS American engine 😛
Show me inside a BMW M3/M5, V8/V10 or a Ferrari V8 please.
You're only missing one stroke there, the 4th one. (Exhaust).Originally posted by: spidey07

thats an awesome video for explaining how the combustion process of a 4 cycle engine works. you get to see every process is happening. and if you watch close enough, ignition does not happen at 0 degrees TDC, it happens slightlyt before it.
Wouldn't hurt the camera. Detonation/Spark Knock/Pinging is simply the fuel getting ignited before the spark plug fires it.Originally posted by: exdeath
It would be really cool if they showed detonation in action, dunno how that would affect the camera though.

It would be neat to see the full cycle.
It is also neat seeing the flames start at the intake valve and watching the flame front spread out.
