I am interested in connecting my Gamecube on my pc's monitor since I dont have a tv right now. Of course monitor doesnt have s-video or composite connectors show the signal will have to pass through the pc. The problem is that my graphics card is not ViVo (no video-in as well). So, what do I do ? How about a tv-tuner or something ? Does these things have video-in capabilities or only tv-signal in ? And how about video quality ? Never used such a card before :(

How about this leadtek card?
"It allows you to capture true color video from S-Video and composite video devices and to playback captured video in a scalable window on the monitor." -Leadtek WinFast VC100 XP Video Capture Device.
Is this the thing I need ? I dont need tv-tuner capabilites. Just a card to input video signal.

Well, I have a Leadtek GeForce4 MX440 with VIVO capabilities (see my thread for more information; I'm also hoping if you can help me there :p). I can record things from my PS2 with pretty good quality, using WinFast PVR and nVidia's WDM drivers.

The point? Just get a good graphics card with VIVO capabilities and you're good to go. :) No need for a TV tuner.

Edit: Misread your post. I thought you wanted to record things from your GameCube, but apparently you want to play the games on your monitor. In that case, you should try the adapter Viper96720 suggested. :p

I dont really wanna buy such an adaptor. And thats because they are expensive. I dont want to pay $70-100 (gamecube itself costs less than $100).

I was looking for a 6800 with vivo capabilities but I opted for gainwards OC capabilites :p

Or, if you want to loop it through the PC to use the expensive graphics card's video scalers (that you've already paid for), just get a PCI framegrabber or TV card. E.g. Leadtek's VC100XP is a plain SVideo/Composite grabber card; audio into the sound card's line in, and everything's sorted. TV cards offer the same functionality (and their own audio-in plug), plus a TV tuner obviously.

That's exactly how I view DVDs and play video games here. Works fine. (But be prepared: Quality monitors will show you quite harshly how low resolution and blurry the TV signal actually is. Sit back.)

The TV is good enough for gaming. Depending on your location, your TV might have a SCART connector. If that's the case, get an RGB SCART cable and ooooh, you will be very happy. :) Quality improvement is really noticable compared to s-video or composite. :D Or at least, that's the case with my PS2. :)

well , right now I am in UK for studies and dont have TV (I dont really watch TV). So since I do have the pc I dont want to buy a crappy tv just for the 'cube. Besides its a matter of space as well :D

Peter: Yeah , thats what I thought, video in leadtek (or a similar card) and audio in audigy. I just wanted to be sure that my idea would work since like I stated I dont have the slightest experience with tv/video-in cards.

To hook up my Xbox and PS2 to my computer, I just got a cheap video capture card (avermedia I believe) on special for like $20. Running it through DScaler with an S-Video input gives better image quality than any standard definition television. I also got the Digital I/O daughtercard for my audigy so I have an optical cable for my audio. 5.1 for xbox games kicks major booty. :)

yeah , 5.1 and HDD are the only things worthy in XBOX :p
