If my stove were doing that, my first instinct would not be to videotape it. Darwin's not going to get me that way. :D

Its actually pretty dangerous. That guy got lucky he didn't hurt himself.

9volts are about 500mA.

500mA at 2000 volts is dangerous.

A MOT is 500mA at 2kVAC. Quite a bit different than that arc.
Still that's DC and he's holding an alligator clip with his bare hand! Yikes!

If you have an ammeter and connect it across the terminals of a 9V alkaline manganese dioxide battery you will find the current drops pretty fast. They don't have much capacity and the internal impedance is higher than other chemistries namely Pb/Li/NiMh.

I remember an impressive pile made from 300 Pola-pulse cells. These are six volt flat packs, almost the size of a pop tart and about 1/3 as thick. They can put out a short duration into a short of 25A! Well shorting out that pile was similar to this:

For those of you old enough to remember Polaroid cameras with the ten packs of instant developing film the battery packs in those that powered the camera were pola pulse cells. Quite impressive to say the least.

lol, the element in my oven went out like that once. I did not get the urge to make a video! While my ex was freaking out, I pulled the oven away from the wall and unplugged the oven. At the time, the new element was under $20 and was easy to swap. It's basically just like a surface burner, plus a couple of screws to hold it in place.

Brave man, I would have run for the circuit breaker
