GLide isn't a graphics acclerator. It was the 3Dfx proprietary 3D graphics library. It was software, similar to OpenGL and DirectX, used by games or other apps to access hardware functions.

The Rage Mobility isn't a "high end" 3D mobile chipset. It's meant to provide acceptable 3D functions and good 2D on a laptop, with low power usage, and other features like MPEG-2 (DVD) acceleration. It's only DirectX 6-compatible, so none of the more advanced features of DX7 or DX8 are available. However it's such an old chipset, nearly all the bugs are worked out, and it has very mature drivers, so it's supported by essentially EVERY operating system, and it's a very low-cost chip, so it's used in many mobile systems that don't need the best graphics (and the non-mobile versions, such as the Rage Pro are used in server motherboards that just need good 2D graphics).

It's unlikely that your laptop has any upgradeability to better graphics acceleration.
