Past few years see them hunting around here, crows/raven chasing them and the smaller birds chasing the crows etc/... food chain. Beautiful bird up close though, very calm.

He doesn't seem to mind you being that close, interesting. Hawks devour mice and rats so that makes them awesome in my book!.

I see you have some plumeria plants in full bloom indoors, I didn't think they would do so without full sun, I have 2 in our front yard that we bought 15 years ago, they became too big for pots so I put them in the ground, they are now '11 high and are in full bloom. Every year it seems they succumb to orange rust fungi and drop all the leaves in August despite my spraying them with copper fungicide, it may be due to the intense FL heat and humidity though.

think about it this way--had the OP cleaned his windows, the hawk might have flown into them. Then he'd have an injured hawk on his balcony.

Very cool, I had a little Screech Owl do something similar once at nite when I was roofing my house.

Little ah heck flew onto a limb about 10 feet from me and sat there starting at me, I had a light up there and was finishing capping the roof off and was an huge old maple tree that had a branch growing over it.

Yes they will, I was at the Rennaisance Festival down here and I told the Falconeer about the screech owl, he took me to his tent and showed me the one he had.

I started to lean into the tent and he warned me back, I didn't notice the two hawks sitting directly inside of the right of me inside the window flap.

I kinda leaned back out a bit slowly.
