Video Games sites: Alternative to IGN and GameSpot?

I recently noticed that IGN is charging everyone to access a large part of their site including the forums. So now the only other way to get video games news is thru www.gamespot.com However, their forum is almost as dead as the towns in Silent Hill series. Anyone else know a good video gaming site with a crowded forum? TIA
