I went to the store today and saw(among others) the following games:

Firefighter
Emergency Call Ambulance
B-17: Airwar over Germany

These 3 were the cheesiest of the bunch. I had to look up reviews for them.

B-17 - 3 spelling mistakes and a name mutation in the manual
Ambulance - based on sega rally championship. Basically rally ambulance
Firefighter - From the guys who brought you deerhunter

Yea that combined with the billion or so war-related games we've had, i'd definitely say there's been a little lack of creativity.

Those Firefighter and Ambulance games are out now to try and rake in the dough since those type of people are all "heroes" now ever since the attack on the World Trade Center.

I sincely doubt they are running out of ideas. There have been some innovations (Thief: sneaker - Max Payne: Bullet time).

However, as videogames are beginning to cost more and more to develop and bring to market, only "proven" winners are being backed. That's why there are so many sequels and remakes of older popular games. It's getting a lot like the movie industry.

That sounds rather original to me. Many of the racing games I have played in the past consist of driving in closed circuits(repeatedly) and such.
