Video game pianist! The guy that played the Mario themes!

Never heard this, but a Hawaiin guy at work has a cd that has the Mario theme played on a ukelele which sounds awesome.

Is this the guy who plays the Super Mario Brothers theme song on piano without any sheets of music for like 11 minutes straight?

I think his whole CD is memorized...

There's a video on DrunkenDelight.com of him playing an awesome Zelda Medley with no sheet music...

I keep hearing people say this as though it's some amazing feat. Any pianist can do the same. If you attend any performances where a piano concerto is played you'll be surprised to see the intensity of the pianist playing for sometimes 20+ minutes in duration.

Its very very easy to memorize music, I've learned this by memorizing a 20+ minute marching band show...

If you know what it sounds like, you can remember it all...

You learned this by watching someone else perform?

I wouldn't call it very very easy by any means. It's just not abnormal for a musician.

No... I was in the band, we had to memorize our music...

Granted, its not piano music, which is a solo performance, but its along the same lines...

If you play something every day you'll memorize it in a matter of days, a week and a half at the most...

I've played the piano and marched in a marching band before, learning music for the piano is still considerably harder. It's not that difficult if you have the natural ability to grasp music, but it's by no means "very very easy".

It's one thing to play normal piano music, but it's quite another when you're playing something that first of all wasn't even originally done on a piano, and secondly is going to be critiqued by thousands and thousands of nitpickers. He had to do it perfect or else miss very few notes, otherwise he knew it wouldn't be worth it because of all the bitching people would do.

My guess is that if you played a couple notes of Beethoven wrong and put it online, not many people would notice.
