Video Game Exchange Thread Interest Poll

I have been getting requests from forum members about a possible official thread to serve as a hub for the exchange of used video games (no money will change hands, just equal exchange of old titles via mail or pickup). The proposed thread would reside in the For Sale / Trade subforum with a link to it in the PC Gaming Resource Thread and/or the equivalent in console gaming (the faq).

This poll / thread is to check user interest in such a thread and to recruit an active forum member that is willing to regularly update the OP of such a thread to list what games people have available for exchange for each platform and what they would like to play (via the posters replying to the trade thread). If no one volunteers, the OP listing will be omitted and only the replies to the thread will be used to inform others who has what available and what they would like in exchange.

Instead of having one person keep track of everything, why not allow 1 post per user in the thread for them to keep up their own list of wants/haves, similar to the big threads you see over on the CAG forum.

How would one keep track of who has what...what if someone flakes out and gets like 20 games and decides to keep them??

It does not sound like a very good idea to me...but that is because I do not trust everyone on the net.

I think it would be a good idea, there are a ton of xbox 360 games that i would want to trade or get new ones etc. Dk how to implement it though, that one huge thread could work

I am interested, but with some reservations. A trade cooperative would seem to me to require more stringent standards of timely compliance, item condition, communication, etc. than the autonomous nature of the FS/FT, where a lot of shoddy trading practices slide by due to the "no neutrals" culture.

Good thing I say, because I'd like to trade my copy of Medieval II: TW (which I don't play on-line at all) for a copy of Mass Effect which I could offer to someone else as a gift (although Mass Effect is quite recent, I doubt anyone would be willing to trade that, but who knows really).

Personally I am okay with shipping to Canada, but I could not blame a person for declining international shipping in any situation where they prefer not.

Great idea - I'd definitely be down. One concern would be that some PC games only have a limited number of times you can "register" it with the code (e.g. Bioshock only allowed 5 activations initially, although now that cap has been lifted since it's no longer such a new game). Might be tricky tracking how many activations are left. But I already buy used games and sell them when I'm done, so I'd be very interested in a trading system.

If this isnt a Loaner program - which suspect/hope it isnt - trade a game for a game... then whats to worry about unless you dont recieve your game.

I meant "don't join the Official Game Trading thread", not "don't join this discussion thread". If anyone isn't interested in a Game Trading thread, all they have to do is ignore it once it is established, but why vote 'no' to prevent facilitating others in trading?
