Video Editing

I'm looking for something to edit some mpeg files(maybe some avi) that I captured using a Hauppauge TV Tuner. I don't want to do anything special just remove some commercials mostly so I can get the file size down.

What is the best program to use? Preferably something opensource or free(spyware free aswell)

I like (non-free) VideoRedo. It allows you to edit without any re-encoding..unless of course you want to change the video format.

Encoding or re-encoding doesn't really matter either way for me. Free is the most important 🙂

That looks like it could be pretty good. It's legit? I don't have to worry about spyware or anything like that. I'm pretty paranoid about installing anything these days.

It's legit and been recommended many times on here. Another thing to consider might be the dvrmstoolbox. I think it might have some sort of auto-commercial-clip functionality.
