Video Editing Software

I'm looking for software that will allow me to import .vob files, edit them, and save as a movie...

I have no knowledge whatsoever about video editing, just helping a friend find the program he needs.

Platform isn't a big concern, but I'd like to lean towards mac programs, with PC comming as a last resort.

You can also use VirtualDub to do this on Windows. Its been awhile since I've done it, but it involved Ripping, using DVD2AVI, and Virtualdub. This is assuming you want to edit VOBs directly and save to some other format. Might be better to rip the VOBs and convert to DV, then you can use any video editor.
