Video Editing Problem

I got a Radeon AIW for christmas. I tried out the Video In/Out capabilities, and everything with the ATI Multimedia Center worked great, except for video capture. Capturing video with either the Composite or cable had the same effect. I could capture once, only after a clean boot, but after that I could not capture. I can reboot and capture, but that is it. How can I fix this? Also, I need to know what kind of cable/ how much it would cost, to hook my sound card to a vcr for outputting sound with the video. Also, I tried out the included software, Merlin VR and Ulead Videostudio 4, and they both don't get the job done. They are more of a home-video, import and add titles, etc., not software for clipping, adding effects, layering audio, etc. I have used I-movie on the mac and it is much more like I am looking for. I have also used the trial of Adobe Premiere, and it is really nice, but over $500. The only way I would buy it is if I could try it out first, not a trial but the real version. Does anyone know where I can download one? If there is something out there cheaper than Premiere and meets my needs, please help me out. Thanks

Are you using a Mac or PC? Videocapture works great with the PC, flawless.. Don't know anything about the Mac though.

For soundcard -> VCR, you need a mini(3.5MM?) to RCA cable. I saw it in Wal-Mart for around $5, 6'.

I heard MGI's VideoWave is pretty good. But $100 is still too expensive for me, so I've never tried it.🙁

I've used the trial of Videowave, and I am pretty sure it stank. I am using this form the PC, that is not the problem. Really what I really need is a link to a copy of Adobe Premiere so I can try it before I dish out $500.

have you tried looking around for it yourself? i just did some searching and found a copy in less than 20 minutes...

the cable you need depends on your soundcard... if you have a good soundcard, then a stndard rca cable will do fine... if you have a lower-end soundcard (like a soundblaster) then you'll need the mini/RCA converter, or a mini/dualRCA converter which i find is worth the extra few cents you'll pay for the adapter because it'll come in handy for other things too, like outputting your soundcard directly to your receiver, etc...

have you tried ulead media studio...? for video editing i generally use adobe premiere and mediastudio interchangeably, although media studio is a little less stable under 2000, or rather its error-trapping isn't as pretty...

Actually I have found many links to a few copies, as most warez is, and tried downloading them all. All failed, citing Fild not found, etc. If you have found a copy that actually works, not just a broken link, then please post it.
