check out the search funktion and look for the

ATI all in wonder whatever... (depending on your needs if you aren't a gamer the 128 pro 32 for example...)

Or

the Hauppauge for a better quality...(need another video card...)

those are all with a TV tuner on which i think is nice...

But try to get me on icq i could tell you a little more,,, i know it is hard to get into video editing... I am not into it, but know some ppl on icq that are..

capture and editing and a tv tuner are cool... maybe...

Don't bother with a video capture board. You have a digital camcorder so you must have the ilink connector. Buy a firewire card and use that to transfer the video digitally. Then use a good video editing software to do what you want to do.

For what it's worth, I have the SIIG 1394 card. It came with Ulead Video Studio LE, under $100 now a days.

The main thing is software. The Ulead stuff works for me and my DV camera. If anyone can recommend something better, my ears are open.

Side question - what codec is best for recording, I used to make everyting in MPEG1, but I am starting to mess with Divx now. Any recs on that?

I have the Ulead and haven't used it much (came with my Evergreen Firewire/USB combo card), but when I installed a Maxtor 40GB Firewire drive, the Maxtor came with a DV editor software that I found better than the Ulead for the little time I tried it out. I have since returned the Maxtor external HD so I can't be for sure what it was, but I think it was called Edit DV by Digital Origins...
