Video Card

Iam building my first computer and need some help with it
Iam thinking of building a AMD machine

the specs are:

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (Winchester core)
Thermaltake case
(Thermaltake Dream Tower Series -Tsunami VA3400SWA)
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI (motherboard)
Corsair Value Select Memory 184 Pin 1GB DDR PC-3200
Western Digital 200 GB (SATA)

my main question is which video card should i buy for this specs

Redeon X700 Pro 256 MB or Geforce 6600 GT 128 (both are the same prices)
which one has better performance and good for the future.
I was thinking of upgrading and putting another video card so is 2x128 (6600GT) better than 2x256 (X700 pro)?

Thank you very much

I don't know why, but I'd go with the 6600GT... But there's no way I'd get 2* 6600GT when getting one 6800ultra will yeild similar results..

i don't have the money to get 6800ultra right now, thats why i want to get one video card now and another later.

can someone give me a link to a review where these two card are compared X700 Pro (256) and Geforce 6600GT (128)

thanks

1 6800 ultra=$600

2 6600GTs= $400

get the 6600GTs, they are better then the X700s, most of ATIs X lineup (apart from, of course the great X8** lineup) is pretty bad.

The ATI cards can't do SLI, so you are down to the 6600GT if you intend to use 2 cards.

The 6800's will work as well, but if you can't afford them then the 6600GT is it.

Is the 6600GT (2x128) good for future usage and games or X700 Pro (2x256) ?

Are the graphics with 6600GT 128 excellent?

The X700pro cannot be used in SLI. If you buy an ATI X700, you are stuck with one card.

Your only choice for dual cards is the 6600GT, unless you can afford the higher priced 6800 cards.

2 6600GT's = 1 6800GT

oh, ok i get it

so 2x128 is very good with SLI ok

Is it good for the future games like 2-3 years later?

if it is i will go for the 6600GT

If you want this rig to last 2 years, you should get 1 6800GT now, then get another one later when you can afford it.

If you want it to last a long time. I would consider saving up abd getting an ultra. Doesnt even have to be an SLI mobo.

Or, if your going to be play D3D games (Half-Life 2, CS:Source etc...) I would suggest an X800XT, or for OCability right out of the box, the X850XT (because of the nice dual slot cooler on it)
