Video card with 4 DVI ports?

Is the Radeon HD 4850 the only card on the market that sports 4 DVI ports?

It is a massive card and most definitely overkill for the type of work I do, but it seems to be the only card on Newegg that supports four DVI connections.

What's wrong with buying 2 videocards? Quite soon you can buy very small, low-end videocards, with three outputs each. Passively cooled and stuff ... Or does your pc only have 1 pci-e slot?

Why do you need 4 DVI ports? You can get converters for all the other types of connectors so you can hook them all up.

That's a good idea, actually. If I plug a monitor into the HDMI port via a DVI>HDMI convertor, will it show up simply as a 3rd monitor?

It's not so secret anymore actually. It's the HD 5450, that's rumoured to be released on februari the 4th. It has 3 display-outputs, but what configuration will depend on the card. You will need one with displayport to use all 3 outputs. If you buy two of those cards, you could hook up 6 screens total.

Also, if you buy two, you can just use the dvi/hdmi-port on both, and hook up 4 screens, without using displayport, in case your monitors don't have displayport and you don't want to buy adapters.

Well, I went ahead and ordered two of the 5750's
It's more than what I need but they will get the job done and hopefully last me at least two years or more..

Overkill, but it'll do. I just hope you ordered the ones with displayport, so you can hook up 6 screens if you ever feel the need to, or run Eyefinity (stretch desktop across 3 screens). Although I'm not sure if the latter works if you use display-connectors on both cards..

You can definitely use the display outputs on more than one 5xxx card for eyefinity, the problem was that it still had to only use the primary gpu for the actual rendering (did they get Crossfire support working with it yet?). That was how they did the 24-screen FSX demo in the initial Eyefinity demo (4 of the "Six" cards).

BTW, link in OP is not to a 4850, but to a 4850 X2 - an unofficial 2GPU card (in this particular case from Sapphire). Other unofficial 2GPU cards based on ATI's HD 2/3/4000 series can also be found, usually with 3 or 4 usable outputs. I remember seeing a 2600 X2 card with 4 video outputs (2 per GPU). All these pre-date Eyefinity on the 5000 series cards.
