I was in that same dilema building my secondary pc. I got the Gs because it was cheaper and came with a free game. They each have their own advantages. Check out the games you are going to play and see what card is better for it.

Upgrading from x1900xt to 9600gt/8800gs isn't worth it. If you can afford a little more, try the $150 8800GT after rebate for more performance. Though if you are running at 1680x1050 or less, you can probably get by on one of your choices. Also, new video cards are coming out in less than a month so it'd be worthwhile to hold on for a couple of weeks for benchmarks of those video cards.

From 1900xt to a 8800gs or 9600gt is anywhere between 50% - 100% faster. 8800gs is so cheap. $100 after rebate. About 20% slower than 8800gt.

9600gt is good too if you like AA but little more expensive and too close to 8800gt after rebate.

I'm going to try and play AoC with my x1950 today...I'll let you know how it goes and how much it bottle necks my performance. Remember not every game kills video cards like crysis does.

Yeah, I just picked up AoC as well, so let's see.

I'm thinking since I run at 1680x1050 a 9600gt would be my best bet.

have u considered the 3870? us nvidia owners get 1 working driver release every 5 months.

the 3870 is also on par or better than the 9600gt + with better driver support
