Okay so I've had everything to put together since mid feb. and still havent been able to see what the problem is so please help!!! I can't get the monitor to display anything when I turn on the computer. I called ASUS about this and they said it could be the bios chip needs to be updated so i ordered one and waited.......once i recieved it i popped it right in only to get the same result. So I did some troubleshooting like remove the ram to try and force a vocal post but no cigar. Since I couldnt get the speaker to beep I was told to check the cpu and psu. I checked the psu and that wasn't the problem so it was either the board or cpu. I sent in the board and recieved a replacement but still had the same problem. So, I then sent in the cpu thinking it was doa. Today I recieved the replacement only to have the same problem! So, now I think it might be my video card. Please let me know what you think? I'm at a loss and this computer has been giving me nothing but problems. Please help me! Also, should I buy a cheap video card like an x300 pci-express to hold me over while the card is rma'd? I'm not sure how long the process for rma a vid card takes. Here are my specs for the comp that doesnt work:
ASUS P5LD2 DELUXE MOBO(UPDATED BIOS)
PENTIUM D 920 DUAL CORE CPU
ATI X1900XT
2 GB COSAIR VALUE SELECT DDR 667
HIPER TYPE-R 580WATT PSU (MODULAR)

I already have an updated bios chip for this motherboard, but could it possibly be corrupt or perhaps they THOUGHT they sent me an updated one?

If your board isnt beeping at all then i would have RMA'd the motherboard instead of getting a BIOS update. Youve tried plugging speakers into the onboard sound yeah? A lot of boards dont even bother beeping now and just give those irritating vocal messages.

Try and find an old PCI graphics card (probably about 1p on ebay :)) to see if that works, if it does then theres either a problem with your graphics card or an issue with the PCI-E slot, which would narrow things down at least.

Try testing all the other components in other machines to see if they work.

In addition to what framerateuk said make sure all power connections are properly plugged into the mb and that the memory and cpu are seated properly.

that's the problem, I dont have another system to try it out on! otherwise i would have had this whole thing straightened out by now. My old computer only has an agp slot. However, I have recently purchased an x600pro for $43 dollars to check to see if it is my vid card and to hold me over if i have to Rma the dang thing.

Yeah, that can be difficult.
Well, hopefully the x600 pro will work and your problem will be solved.

Okay I dont know what is going on!!!!???? I still can't get this damn thing to post a display once i turn on the computer. Here's what I've done so far:

- I made sure everything was seated properly
-I made sure I had the updated bios for the pent D 920
-I Rma'd my motherboard(thought it was bad and got a replacement)
-I Rma'd my cpu upon recieving my new board and having the same problem
-I tried that and still no display with the new cpu
-I bought the x600pro thinking it was my ati x1900xt card being dead but the x600 still doesnt show any display
-I've tried each individual ram module in the 3rd slot at a time
-I've tried a different monitor and different PSU
-I've even tried a different updated bios chip thinking they sent a bad one or something

So, I want to know what is going on. Since I have tried the above, I think these might be the problem:

-I have recieved another bad motherboard
-I have recieved another dead cpu
-I have recieved a dead cpu and a dead motherboard
-I have 4 dead ram modules

Like I said I am at a complete loss with this computer. I've had these parts for over a month and yet still haven't been able to use it!!! Sadly I might have to pay for a diagnostic as I have no more money to order more parts to see what the problem is and no access to a similar setup. Please help me!!! I am in dire need!!!!

Perhaps if anyone is in austin and has a similar setup and are willing to swap out equipment with me to see what the problem is? I know that's asking a lot but I'm deperate!!!! Only if you are willing....I just dont want to have to take it to geek squad just to give them money and only find out what the problem is.

1. Power supply is bad or the hook-up is bad.
2. RAM is incompatible with the motherboard.
3. The RAM boards have their SPD misconfigured.

Other than that I don't see how it could possibly be anything else.

I've tried like 3 different PSU's with the same result. Is the Corsair ddr667 value select ram compatible with the p5ld2 deluxe motherboard?

You have at least 0415 BIOS?

ASUS P5LD2 Deluxe CPU Support Doc
-Pentium D 920(2.8GHz, 800 FSB, L2 4MB, revB1) ALL 0415

Select QVL download on the left to see tested memory ICs. I'll do the best to determine whether your RAM has one of those chips.

What exactly do the RAM chips read in terms of a part number? I'm having trouble finding reviews for this RAM.

Notice one of the comments for a similar RAM on Newegg:

Cons: Bought 12 sets. One set was bad. (I had my warranty replacements from corsair in less than a week though)....

Okay check this out people.... Could it possibly be the bios? I've asked ASUS 2 times to send this updated bios chip (I thought the first one was bad because when I pulled out the ram and turned on the computer, the pc speaker didnt beep any error message, but with the old bios in it did with the ram out) Now with the 2nd updated bios chip it does the same thing when the ram is pulled out(no beep). Could this be a possibility?

Okay so it's been about 2 months since i've have this computer put together and yet it had not worked. The next day that I set it up and found out it didnt work i knew that i needed the bios revision for my mobo to support the Pent. D 920 so i sent off for a flashed bios chip from Asus. However, That didn't work! So I Rma'd my mobo and Cpu and that wasn't the problem! So all signs pointed to the vid card or ram. I bought a cheap pci express vid card to test that out but it didnt work. My friend said that it was probably the bios chip that they sent was bad. So, already approaching 2 months.....I order another "updated" bios chips from Asus. I got it the next day, but it still didnt POST! I was at a loss as you all have seen in the previous replies. My friend was persistant that it was the bios still. I was a bit skeptical but he decided to buy a single core cpu so that we could flash the bios that came with the board manually. Today the cpu came in and we WERE ABLE TO POST THE DAMN THING FINALLY! WE FLASHED IT TO THE NEWEST REVISION AND MY PENT. D 920 AND ENTIRE SYSTEM WORKS PERFECTLY!!!!! THIS MEANS THAT ASUS TECHNICAL SUPPORT (WHOM I'VE CALLED MORE THAN 5 TIMES FOR HELP ON THIS ISSUE AND SENT OFF FOR 2 DIFFERENT PIECE OF CRAP BIOS CHIPS) HAVE TAKEN AWAY 2 MONTHS OF MY TIME AND A CRAP LOAD OF MONEY (SINCE I'VE BEEN TRYING TO SELL MY OLD COMPUTER BUT COULDNT CAUSE MY NEW ONE DOESNT WORK!!!) RIDICULOUS!!! I SHOULD COMPLAIN TO ASUS AND TRY TO GET SOMETHING FREE OR SOMETHING!!! ANYONE THINK THE SAME THING!!??

You we're done wrong by ASUS. Call them back and ask to speak to a manager, not a techie. Demand some kind of compensation.

When trying to get compensation, don't accept no for an answer. Many times the people your talking to are not authorised to say "yes". Keeping going up the ladder until you reach someone that can say "yes". Don't threaten, be polite, but BE PERSISTENT!
