Video card to last me until first of the year

Well my 4200ti has been good to me, but I priced it to someone and they bought it. So I need to get me a replacement quick. I thought about going with one of the 6800GTs, but I think I'm going to rebuild my computer about Jan-Feb so I am just looking for a card to get me to that point and that will play HL2 in a couple of weeks.

I have been thinking about the 9800pro because it is at a good price, and I feel I can sell it easy and with good results after the first of the year. Who knows I might just keep it, but I think I am going to go PCIe then, maybe even SLI, who knows.

Thanks

Current system.

DFI VIA board
A64 3000+
1GB RAM
XP pro

Gamees currently playing:
CS:S
FarCry
Ghost Recon

Soon to be:
HL-2
Ghost Recon 2

the 9800p is a good card - solid midrange - for less than $200 . . . . best of all, it is a good UPgrade from your current card . . . .

what resolution do you game at?

The 9800p will be able to handle ANY current game at 10x7 with most details high and on . . . . well into next year.

9800pro. the 6600GT will become obsolete at the same time the 9800pro does imo and they are much cheaper.

Both are roughly the same price and the 6600GT offers 25% more performance on a regular basis.

I don't see how you can justify your claim...

I recommend the Savings Account X6800 Pro. You're almost assured not to get back what you put into a new card at this point.

When you've had your Ti4200 for this long, what's another 2 months? This Ti4200 owner is doing the same thing. 🙂

Beg to differ. If I say I have a DFI motherboard based on the VIA chipset, maybe you should do some research before you say I'm a dumbass and don't know what motherboard I have.

This is the best choice, that was why I still had my 4200! But, like I said in the Original post, I priced my card to a guy and he bought it yesterday, so currently I am running my Copmuter off the intergrated graphics and of course that won't play any games, not to mention I have a second monitor just sitting here not being used😀.

I know I wont't get all my money back, but I think I will lose less with the 9800pro.

I like 12*10 sice I have 19" monitors, but on CS:S I have been using 10*7 since my 4200 counld handle it much higher.
