I presently play World of Warcraft and nothing else that would demand high performance. (I might try the Battlefield series in the future, but only very casually and I won't need to have the eye candy turned up. I might try Vanguard (another MMORPG) when it comes out in a year or 2. This is all speculative).
I am not very picky.
I presently am using a GForce MX400 for WoW and I don't find it that bad but I am going to order a new monitor so I figure I may as well get a new video card. I am Canadian so products cost more relative to income than they would a US resident.
Choices:
(1) GForce 6600GT ($197.00) - Best card for my system but most expensive. Might be bottlenecked by my CPU and won't be usable in next generation motherboards. Could be a decent choice if I upgrade my motherboard at some point to a AMD 64 (AGP) motherboard, but I will likely only change the mobo/processor if it is really necessary and when prices drop a great deal. At that point, PCI will likely be the way to go.
(2) ATI 9600 Pro ($100.00) - Middle of the road. Might be a decent choice.
(3) ATI 9550 - ($67.00) - Cheap stopgap measure. Would be sufficient for now.
