Heres the deal, I was playing Oblivion and suddenly my video card shut down, the rest of the system seemed to be running.
Anyways I did a cold boot and restart, but this time I got no picture.
I checked to see if the GPU fan was still spinning and it was so the card was getting power.
So basicly looks like the monitor is not getting any signal.
I've tried switching vga to dvi adapters and even monitors but to no avail.

Any suggestions?

The video card is a 7800GTX

It is necessary for you to determine exactly what is causing the problem.

Because you have reason to believe the problem is video card related and not monitor related, replace the Geforce 7800GTX with a spare video card and boot the system. If all is well at that point, then you know the problem was related to the 7800GTX. You simply need to replace it.

After that, the difficult part of trouble shooting that most people do not even bother doing begins: You have to figure out why the 7800GTX died. Was it due to just being a defective card, or is there something in your machine that caused it to happen(Faulty power supply, mainboard, wires, dust, ect..). Probably more than 90% of the people on these forums simply replace the part that died, then hope all is well without going into the problem any further. Then they complain when another part dies. The cycle continues.

It could have been heat related - Oblivion heats up my card like no other game.

Suggest keyword search "Oblivion" in this forum for further help. I''m glad I did with my problem. My is 7800GTX and it did happen to me several times. Unless you haven't tried. Anyway try to switch setting from HDR to BLOOM and it should solve your problem.
