Need some advice on a video card for a computer. The person using the computer will be surfing the internet and doing some games. She won't be doing much intense 3d games, more like wheel of fortune and stuff similiar. I guess 2d is more important than the 3d. Any suggestions?

Not a bad choice; the GeForce2MX or GeForce4MX cards are also around that price and performance level. Fine for 2D, passable for light gaming.

If the most intense gaming you'll be doing is "wheel of fortune", though, integrated graphics are fine...

Well.. my parents have an older Dell computer with no AGP slot and onboard video. I bought them an LCD for my pops birthday (nice price of $160 for a 17" LCD brand new heh.) Anyhow, the onboard video looked like CRAP!!! I went out and bought them a 128MB PCI 9200 radeon. I was able to get this card for about $40 after rebates new. That's the second best gift, next to the LCD, I've bought for their computer. 2D, which is ALL they do, is gorgeous now. If they wanted, they could even do some decent 3D things as well. They don't but the possibility is there for them....

Now, if they would only let me put windows XP on there and get rid of windows ME... (moron edition).... That's a whole different story.

Do you mean Gainward or something else? I'm not really up on video cards. All I have ever bought were ATI 7500/8500 because they were obtainable at the BX where I was stationed. They have served me well but I am not sure whether she needs 64 or 128 MB of RAM in the card.

What about this card Gainward FX 5200. How do you know whether it has good 2D?
