Video Card problems

I just replaced my video card not too long ago, from a voodoo 3 2000 16mb PCI to a Geforce2 32mb PCI. I used to run my comp in 1024 X 768 mode just fine, until i put in this new card. Now i have to run it in 800X600 mode or my monitor goes out of range. When i look at the specs and capabilities of my monitor and what the vid card is running i am well within range, but whenever i turn my comp on about 15 seconds after my operating system starts up it goes out of range. Any suggestions what i should do? Another weird thing, i uninstalled the old vid drivers and downloaded the Nvidia drivers and my comp wouldnt even detect my Geforce Card! I had to reinstall my voodoo drivers just for my Geforce to be recongnized as being in my PCI slot. I play CS and was doing just fine with my 16mb voodoo + Wicked GL drivers (except when a smoke grenade was thrown). I run about the same with my 32mb Geforce except i dont lag when smokes are thrown. Is this correct? Do the Wicked GL drivers really make that much difference?

Thanks for any help ahead of time!

that's odd ... well the nvidia drivers are all you need for the geforce to run properly...

if the monitor is going out of range the settings for 1024x might be using a refresh rate that your monitor can't handle...try checking out the refresh rate for the mode and see if it went really high for some reason ...

do you have any programs that run refresh rates really high? i use nvreffix for my w2k system to do this ... if you are change it ...

i don't know what else to do ...

did you try installing standard pci graphics card , reboot, then install the detonator drivers?

good luck
