Video card problems...out of ideas

So, I just recently upgraded my mobo, ram, cpu and video card after my mobo died on me. I install everything properly, but i cannot get my mobo to recognize my video card or any other video card i have put in. I can only currently get video from my onboard vga adapter and nothing else. I have the init display setting on the bios set to PCIE x16 and still nothing, im out of ideas as to what it could be.

Specs:
GA-H67A-UD3H Gigabyte 1155 H67 intel mobo
EVGA 768-P3-1362-TR GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) Superclocked 768MB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16

Intel i5-2500 3.3ghz quad core processor

8gb gskill ripjaw ram

620w Corsair psu

Alright so a little more info, the cards i have been using are my new card (460gtx) and ive been switching between that and a radeon x700 that my friend had lying around. Ive removed the card several times, plugged in the pci connector, tried different slots, etc. I have a wireless card in my case and it was recognized immediately in one of the expansion slots, whereas my new card, all that happens on start up is the fan just spins really fast. I think its a mobo problem at this point but im not even sure

Are you sure the power plug for the video card is providing power?
What about going into the BIOS and making sure the onboard VGA is not first to initialize?
Just some thoughts.

Definitely check this, easy to overlook (depending on the motherboard) and it means you're fixed with one settings change!

I have the bios set to initialize with the PCIE x16 which im assuming to be the pci express 16 slot, which is where i have had my video card, i checked the cable running to the card and its connected on both ends. the onboard graphics are set to only enable if there is no external graphics card present or recognized, but when i have the card installed and plugged in the only thing that shows up under display adapters is the onboard.

When you have the discrete card installed your changing the monitor cable to it ? I know its a obvious question.
You could try updating your m/b bios, this has fixed similar problems in other's new builds.

Well i thought i had a good idea, i changed out the cords that were running from the card to the psu, and connected one that could be used with the power cord from the hds and disc drive, and plugged that in as well, no change. Ill have to look into changing the bios or atleast updating anyway and seeing if that does anything. Ive been checking the discrete card everytime i plug it in and my monitor goes into power save mode instantly when its connected.

heh-heh...I've seen that error a couple of times.

GOTTA remember to swap the monitor cable from the motherboard to the graphics card...

I have tried updating the drivers and bios for the motherboard, and im still not getting anything. When i go to try installing drivers for the card itself, all I get is that the installer cannot find the hardware. Could the card be dead?

Try unistalling the drivers for both the Nvidia card and ATI card with driver sweeper.

reboot system and before it boots windows go into the bios and switch the settings to pci-e.
save changes!!!
Now let it boot to windows and try to install the latest Nvidia drivers.

if that dosen't work

repeat procedure with the x700 card, except use ATI drivers

If that dosen't, work its a bad pci-e slot in new board is my guess. 🙁

I tried doing the driver sweeper option when i first got it, so im pretty sure thats not it, and I dont have another system i can put it in to test the card to be sure.

Well, its gotta be a dead card, because I thought my old video card was broken turns out it wasnt completely broken (was getting a really fractured display) because i decided to try and see what would happen if i used it and, bam it recognized it immediately. So I guess I will chock this up to bad luck and just RMA the card.
