video card problem?

im putting together a system and i bought a used video card, evga 6800 to be exact, and my mobo says agp 1.5v only. how do i figure out what my cards voltage is? i didnt get any manuals with it) im assuming it will work as all motherboards ive looked at say 1.5v only, but just want to make sure so i dont give myself a fireworks display or something.

go to the control panel then go to video/gfx or something and look at the specs.

i need to know the voltage of the evga 6800 before i get a board. im afraid of damaging the card/board somehow. does anyone know if a evga geforce 6800 (AGP) will go into an asus p4p800 board? im sure it will but i want to double check as im just about out of budget on the unit and i dont want to break something

Yes, 6800s are 1.5v cards. anything modern(AGP 4x or better) should work fine on that board.

PCIe won't work on that slot.

Both AGP 4x and 8x should work and as far as I know you don't need to do anything but plug it in, drivers etc. I don't think there is any voltage manipulation by you required.

Well, no duh, it's called AGP for a reason...


Anyway, the newer AGP 3.0 spec uses 0.8V, and it is backwards compatible with the older 1.5V spec, so most newer cards will run on both...
