Video Card not working.

I went away for 3 months so i put my PC in the basement so no one would mess with it. I start it up and everything seems to spin fine. one problem...No video. The monitor works on my laptop so its not the monitor. The fan is spinning but when i plug the monitor in it says no signal. Any thoughts or is it dead? I have a EVGA 6800GT and its not in warranty anymore

Remove and reseat the Video card. It might have come loose during the moving around. If not, put an old PCI video card in it and fire it up. I always keep a 16mb PCI card in my 'diagnostics box' for occasions just like yours.

No I dont hear the beep

I i tried resetting it and sprayed the whole thing down with air.

There's a good chance it's not your video card then.

You should reset the CMOS; there's a jumper that does it. If you can't figure that out, then unplug your system, remove the battery, put it back in, then try again.

Check everything to see if something came loose. It could be as simple as your HD cable.

wouldnt it show something if something wasnt plugged in? Ive had a lot of problems with PCs and they always atleast do something on the screen. The no signal thing is what makes me think it is the video card.

Could you explain to me why it would not be the video card? I am sorry if its obvious.

If your system isn't posting it means it could be:

- the video card
- the CPU
- the memory
- the motherboard

There could even be more culprits! You need to isolate the cause. I would disassemble the entire rig, then reconnect only what is necessary. Try to get some spare parts to test if you can (i.e. video card).
