No sites, but I can tell you what I've seen here in Israel over the years:
386 era - Trident 8900/9000, ISA, no Windows acceleration, 256KB-1MB, 256 colors only'
486 era - same Tridents. More advanced systems (mine!) moved to higer-end cards: Cirrus Logic 5428/5429 or ATI mach32, VLB, Windows accel., 1-2MB, 24-bit capable
Early Pentiums era - Mostly Cirrus Logic 5430/M30/40/M40/46, PCI, 1-2MB. Other comparable cards are Trident 9440, S3 Trio64, ATI MACH64, ARKLogic 1000PV/2000MT.
Later Pentiums era - ATI Rage II+, PCI, 2-4MB, does 3D (although 2MB was not enough - you really neeeded the 4MB version). Some smart people who read to much "PC Magazine" bought the Diamond Stealth 3D 2000, only to find themselves with the infamous S3 Virge, and the questionable please of working with Diamond drivers.
PentiumII - ATI RageIIC/RagePro, AGP, 4-8MB, much better 3D. Early systems sometimes had inferior cards: Trident 9750/Cirrus Logic 5465, AGP, 4MB, buggy 3D.
I think I'll stop now...
