Yeah I have a 2.0 Willy, just 478 though, not 423. If it were my 200 clams and I wasn't going to gut the mobo, cpu, and RDRAM out of there due to whatever reason, I would:

-Sell the 1.3, maybe you'll get $30, giving you $230 to play with.
-Grab a 423-478 adapter for around $30.
-Grab a used P4 2.4/400, hard to find but they can be had for around $100 on Ebay
-Grab a 9700 of some variety for a hair over $100 in the forums or Ebay

If you decide to gut it however:
-the existing motherboard is probably worth $0, so maybe selling it with the cpu for $40ish
-RDRAM carries a premium price, 2x256 goes for over $120 and 2x128 goes for over $60, so it's probably worth $200 all together.
-Gutting it should gather you up at least $225 plus your $200 is a healthy warchest for an upgrade.
-Probably need a new psu though, Dells are a little funky I believe.

If your not going to upgrade the cpu, I'd just get a Ti4200 for $50ish used and call it a day.

get a 9600 and match it up with the highest speed processor your board will support.

That's kinda hard to do, that model was based on the socket 423 P4's. I think the highest it supports is 1.5 GHz

I think the highest socket 423 willie is 1.8/256k/400. But your right, will his board support the multiplier.

Patters, your nicest option is a GeForce Ti 4200 128MB AGP 4x card. 8x will work in your board also as all 8x cards can operate at 4x. The Ti4200 kills the vanilla 9600 in anything OpenGL & DX8.1 and under. And Nvidia cards are much much better at OpenGL games which Call of Duty is.

For 50 to 60 dollars in the FS/FT forum from a trusted seller, you can't go wrong.
And save quite a few bucks while getting a terrific card.

The highest clock speed for the S423 P4 Willamette was in fact 2Ghz, 256Kb/400FSB. I dunno if you could find that in the US though...I would imagine your board would be able to support it though.

Just get a used 4200. With your processor, spending more money is unjustified. Furthermore, chances are you are running an old underpowered PSU, which can create issues for more powerful (power hungry) videocards. Given Nvidia's upper-hand in OpenGL gaming the 4200 will be a nice upgrade over your older card for $50-70. Then in the future, you can save some $$$ and upgrade when 64-bit comes around.

I agree with the Ti4200 also ... I was surprised how well that card served me before I got my 6800. I played Doom3 all the way through on a Ti4200 @ 800x600 low detail but I was surprised that it was very smooth and still looked nice. Anything else is just a waste of money as this is already an older system. Just spend the $50 or so now on a used Ti4200 and when you are ready to go to the next level in gaming that is when you build a new rig and keep your current one as a secondary ... or even sell the old computer for $200 or so and apply that to a new system. If you try and upgrade that computer it will just nickel and dime you to death.
