Right now? Fury's are going for about that or less. Though me thinks Fury's will be short lived as AMD moves on. Just my guess since it requires specific attention to get the most out of it's memory system.

Looking at Rx 480 Customs for a while. I don't think AMD will have anything proper in that prince range until 2017. Just get a 480, OC it, and bank $120-150.

It was the Fury Nitro that has been at or under $300ish that was the killer deal. Some people managed to get it for $275 with paypal coupon.

There is the Fury X that was hovering around $400 for some models

I wouldn't buy a 390 over $250 though as the 480 is very similar performance with newer tech and much lower power for the same price.

At 400.00, the 1070 is the best option if you can find one in stock at that price.

Currently AMD has no competitive option at that price. If for some reason you insist on an AMD card, as others said, get a 480 and pocket the difference. I would wait until there is a good selection of AIB cards though.

Read a GREAT review about the 8G Sapphire Nitro OC RX 480. Should be available before the BF1 release and be @$269-289.

There has been random sales of R9 Fury at bellow $400 poping up from time to time.. you can either look at those.. or just get an aftermarket rx480

Sapphire rx480 Nano+, XFX double dissipation rx480, Asus Strix have already been announced and should start showing up in stores next week at the earliest.

Yeah if you're set in staying with AMD, there are really only two cards (well three if you get uber lucky - Fury X) worth looking at:

Fury and Rx 480. The Rx480 would cover just about any other card below Fury (ie R9 390/390X) and would most likely be had cheaper (outside of gouging, ignore that $400 link, woof).

Fury will be faster and closer to the $400 point. Outside of those two cards, AMD's line up isn't worth looking much into it. At least for your budget.

I'd try to get a decently priced Rx 480 Custom (them Nitros look decent), when they get more in stock.

yes you can

You could absolutely use a 1070 with your AMD CPU.

You generally can, but what is your CPU? Would want to make sure it is fast enough so you are not CPU bottlenecked.

Sapphire Fury Nitro OC+ has been as low as $275 after coupon (4 days ago). If it goes on sale again around $299 it's the best high end bang for the buck.

Otherwise, a custom 480 around $220 (4GB) would be better bang for the buck.

Yep, you sure can. GTX 1070 is your best bet for ~$400, but if you have to go AMD (which I wouldn't recommend at this time), the only card I can really recommend at this time is some form of RX 480; the higher end AMD stuff is simply overpriced at the moment.

Battlefield 1 will be using DICE's latest Frostbyte engine running DX12. This would mean one of the best looking and responsive engines with one of the lowest hardware requirements.

You can spend $400 if you want, but even at 4K I doubt you'll really need that big of a hardware requirement. I'd wait to read reviews if you are just planning to play this game once it's released, like many are BTW.

If BF1 was my main concern I'd wait till closer to launch before deciding. Of course it's your choice in the end anyways.

That's just why I suggested waiting for BF1 like the title, but if not have fun!

I purchased a Saphire Nitro R9 Fury for £300 a couple of days ago. Overclocked and running virtually silent its a nice bump up from my 290 Reference (hot and loud)

The way I see it, and from the line up of games coming out, is that a 480 or a Fury are going to see increased efficiency with DX12 and Vulkan pushing them into being really good 2k cards for the money. They probably won't quite catch the gtx1070 but the gap will likely shrink.
