Video card for Adobe premiere ?

This is for a friend, and my memory may be a little off, and I can only answer minimal questions.

So he has 2600k@3.4, 32 gig of 1333 memory, and a Samsung 840 500 gig SSD. But the 570 video card he has been told is not good enough. What should he get on a limited budget ? I said most likely a 1070TI@$499 would be the right choice., but that is based on very limited information.

1060 would be fine, or RX 580. I always figured the software to be more dependent on CPU and memory.

Not sure if CC or not. The only review I could find had 8 to 14 core CPU's and 1080TI's, so its like WOAH ! But he just asked, and I said from what I knew, a 1070TI would the be best bang/buck, and if the CPU was slow, it would be a big expenditure (like an 8700K or a 2700X) and memory, all new, but at least the video card would still be OK.

AMD's are superior for Adobe software as Adobe uses OpenCL for their acceleration. nVidia is not only slower, but they are a few versions back from the currently supported version.

OK, so my friend went ahead and got the 1070TI for $530 at Frys (not a horrible deal).

So my question, a 2600 (NON-k) 32 gig 1333 memory and a 1070TI using a 500 gig 840 SSD, will the performance be satisfactory ? (forget benchmarks, just will it look like an acceptable system to his daughter).

I know this is subjective, but just throw it out there, what you think of the system. And thanks for all the advice.

You are right, premier does have CUDA. Its the apps like photoshop and illustrator that do not last I checked.

Unless she's working with small media sources (small projects where she can move the entirety of her source media onto her SSD) storage space and performance will both be a problem for her. CPU and GPU she's fine-ish, I have plenty of people in my environment editing on machines with similar hardware. Lately we have been using gaming class NVIDIA cards in our higher end workstations (16 core/64 GB) so a 1070 Ti is a good choice. I have around 150 edit machines deployed with a range of GPU products from K20 to 980 Ti, 1080, and 1080 Ti. All work fine in Premiere and After Effects.

Plan on buying her more and faster storage, that's probably going to be the first place she runs into trouble.

Thanks for the input ! I told the dad to get a minimum 1tb storage platter, the 500 gig is just for software.

I would recommend going with the GTX 1050. Newer generation is betterand it is overclocked (OC) but if you are using any 4K resolution media you might want more than 2GB of video RAM But you may be putting to much faith in a GPU. i don't know how does it work on channels: ShowBox Kodi Lucky Patcher What effects are you using, are they GPU accelerated? What is your hardware configuration?

They already bought a GTX 1070Ti.

Premiere's video acceleration is interesting. I had previously seen situations where they distinctly preferred cuda, though now it appears that Vega is a monster at it. Polaris not so much at all. As always, get a CC sub for latest version updates for continued OpenCL/CUDA optimizations.
