A friend wants to know what video card he can get for $150 to $200. I haven't been paying any attn to video cards since I bought my gf3 a while ago, so I am clueless. He's not a hardcore gamer (but he needs it for games), and I'm sure he'd rather spend 150 than 200.

thanks....

edit: I was thinkin' ATI radeon 9500 PRO from mwave.... or a GF4 ti4200

i would say 9500 pro

if her's not willing to bump it up to $225 for a 9700, a 9500 pro would be great

*loving* my 9700np

If he'd rather spend $150 than $200, then the Ti4200 is a very good option. If he's willing to spend up to $200, then the Radeon 9500 Pro would be the best card.

It's kind of difficult to make one suggestion, because I wouldn't fault him if he chose either card - the Radeon 9500 Pro is faster and more future-resistant, but it's still around $40 more expensive than the 128mb Ti4200 and the Ti4200 is perfectly acceptable for today's games. You're saying he's not a hardcore gamer, so I'd lean him towards the Ti4200.
