My brother currently has a ATI 6600SE card. And its starting to make the screen shake, like you can see the screen vibrate, its very annoying. He wants to get a new card but doesnt want to spend over $120.
What I'm asking is whats the best bang for the buck.
I was looking into the Nvidia 5700le. its around $80 or so....what do you guys recommend for that price range.
He does play a fair amount of games, just tight on budget.

Thanks

Last time I checked, my 9000pro was faster than a 9600se. Those things are 64-bit, you know. I really don't like the fact that ATI ditched the 9500 and gave us a crappy 9600, because they probably could have had a killer mid-range card, like nvidia has now with theit 6600gt. But anyways, I would get a used 9700pro, those things are way faster than most gf 5xxx cards.

I've seen this before, and it has never been the fault of the video card -- it's always been EMI from something nearby (you can try moving the monitor and/or computer somewhere else to see if this is the case). Did you recently put any electric heaters or fans (or an AC->DC transformer -- a 'power brick') near the monitor, or plug any large devices into the circuit that the monitor is on?

Yeah, Matthias is right. That is unlikely to be the video card.

Fool around with the refresh rates and see if you can affect it.

I meant the 9600SE, head is not on straight today. was thinking of my 6600GT lol...

No interference that I know of, I tried some AGP card i had laying around and I didnt have that problem.

I will have to look into the ATI 9600Pro or others.

How about some Nvidia suggestions?

*puts on asbestos suit*...

Naw, nvidia got their butts handed to em last gen, so in that price range youre not gonna find a good nv card
