Video card driver question

I have an IBM, win 98, which originally had a number nine technology 8mb video card. I upgraded to a geforce mx and installed detonator drivers. Now Im putting the #9 back into IBM. I have 2 questions

#1. Will the #9 video card automatically detect its drivers or will i have to select them? I never deleted them.

#2 When updating drivers, for instance new versions of detonator drivers or in my above example different dirvers for different video cards, should you delete old drivers or is it OK to just let them hang out and have a driver party in your computer?

thanks in advance.....

It's always a good idea to remove old drivers. Sometimes there are problems even after removing the drivers cause the registry might still have an entry. This used to be really bad with old voodoo drivers and nvidia ones when people switched cards.

1. I would remove the current drivers in use and then you should select the drivers cause sometimes windows may have it's own generic drivers installed too that will be picked up instead of the ones that you originally installed.

2. If you are updating drivers(detonators), just installing over them should be ok, but if you really want to be safe, remove the old ones and then do a fresh install of your new ones. It shouldn't give you problems but it doesn't hurt to be safe.

The old card should load up without issue and when you update drivers, the old ones are basically replaced anyway so there shouldn't be any manual maintainence needed...
