Video card Dilemma?

OK I am not a gamer by any standards! So I dont need a super powerful card. The only games I might play would be half life and maybe return to castle wolfenstein. Right now I am running an Xpert 98 8 meg AGP and I am in desperate need for a new card. I really want a new card that has great Tv out as well. I believe Ati Cards have the best TV out from what I am hearing.

I want to spend as little as possible on this video card. Under 100$ for sure! I dont really like the GF2 mx series all to much either. Cards I have been looking at would be the ECS SIS 315 TV, Radeon 7500, and Radeon 64 SDRAM. Obviousily the Radeon 7500 is the best card out of those three. I can find one for about 74$. The ECS card is only like 42$ including shipping! Since I am a light gamer and all I want this card for is TV out would I notice a difference between the two? How is Nvidia's TV out? Do you think the Radeon 7500 would have better Tv out as well? What vid card has the best Tv out?

Im pretty sure the Radeon 64 and 7500 use the same rage theatre chip and I believe the ecs card uses the SIS 301 chip! Would the 7500 justify 30$ in cost. Keep in my mind I am desperately poor college kid as well and I want to get 256 megs DDR with this purchase.

Sound to me like your semi decided on the Radion 7500. I would be inclined to agree with you I think. nVidia's TV out is OK, but I'm no professional in this area. ATI is renowned for good DVD and TV Out playback...😉

I would look very carefully with any ATi Radeon 7500 Card that is as cheap as $74. Many at that price ship withy SDRAM, and are "Powered by ATi" and they may not even have a TV-Out. I recentley decided to upgrade my GF2MX 400 to a Dual Monitor video card, and I too chose a R7500. And, there is some debate on the 2D quality of the "Powered" by ATi cards, and I can see if they skimp on 2D quality, they'd skimp on the TV Out chip.

So, I do think however, that the Radeon 64 VIVO's (not the Radeon 7200's) that are built by ATi, should be what you're looking for. However, I am no expert either on the difference between nVIdia's and ATI's. But, all I am encouraging you to do is be very careful before purchasing a Powered by ATi card.

If Tv out is very important to you, I would get the ATI Radeon 7500 cause it's a good light gaming card and has good DVD as well as tv out capeabilities. The price is right and it beats out any nVidia card in the under $100 price range.

If TV is your goal, forget NVidia... a lot of their tv out support is minimal, my GeForce3 works fine, but then again, its a gainward......

I will be going with a Radeon 7500 or 8500 card when I build my Multimedia set top box, because I want to be able to do some gaming, some N64 emulation, etc, and have good TV out / in, etc.... those seem to be the best cards for the money..

Yeah the Radeon 7500 is made by saphiretech! I believe it has a core clock of 270 and ddr 183mhz ram. The card does have TV out and DVI! 74$ seems like a very sweet deal. Yeah I had a Radeon LE w/tv out, but it was ruined along with my mobo and power supply. That Radeon LE worked perfect and as I do belive they were powered by Ati as well.
