My motherboard went bad a month or so ago(well, long story short it was pissed on by my cat.. I dont have a case :frown: ). I want to get back into PC gaming and I need to buy a motherboard and a new GFX card. I was browsing around newegg and saw this.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814150316.. I was reading some reviews and it comments about the 9800GT being a rebadged 8800GT with hybrid SLI capabilities. So I browsed newegg some more and found http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814133232 Which card do you think would be better in the long run? I have a X2 4200+ that I plan on overclocking(I had it running on my old motherboard at 2.7GHz) I currently only have 2GB ram but I plan on upgrading that later. The games I wanna play are HL2 based games and the resolution is 1680x1050.

Either one is good. Depends on which free game you prefer. Frontlines, or CoD4. Both cards come clocked the same, and they are both from top tier vendors. So, it comes down to game choice.

LOL @ your cat. Sorry haha. :)

I'd go with the XFX. Better warranty, better included title, and I'm pretty sure that backward looking cooler is better/quieter as well. Also chance for a 55nm version too I believe, which might result in higher clocks or cooler temps.

Chizow, I though only 9800gtx's are 55nm, not the 9800gt's. None of them to be exact.

I'd go with xfx too though, CoD4 > Frontlines, and XFX > PNY ...

9800GT were the first 55nm NV parts to be introduced into channel, only to OEM at first and mixed with older 8800GT/65nm G92 parts to start. Older SKUs are probably still mixed, but newer SKUs seem to be guaranteed 55nm 9800GT

ROFL with the cat fetish on plastic bag. At least my cat only chews on them.

As for the card, you should go with ATI 4850, you should get it around 150 after rebate, best deal.
