Just to bring this up, because it's uber-annoying and has resulted in me twice having to drive 45 minutes out of my way each way to pick up my items from NCIX:

NCIX requires a signature on literally everything they ship. They ship UPS (usually Ground) which only delivers Monday-Friday during normal working hours. So if you aren't there to sign for it, you will have to pick it up from the distribution center or else they send it back after 3 failed delivery attempts.

I don't know about you guys, but I work for a living, so I am never there to sign for it when the UPS guy comes. NCIX has done this for everything I have ordered from them, and I've never ordered anything more than ~$100, so it's not like they only do it for expensive items. So I might save maybe $5 - 15 on the initial order, have to wait almost an extra week because the shipping is so slow, then end up having to drive way out of my way to pick it up myself, thereby negating any savings. To me, it's just not worth the hassle for the few bucks I might save after paying for the extra gas and wasting my time to pick the stuff up.

Thats not true at all. I ordered a case and 2 motherboards from them and they just sit it at door.

+1

put your work address on file with your credit card company (unfortunately you'll have to call them to get this done). most vendors will only ship to the customer's billing address unless an alternative address has been listed with the credit card company. my residence is obviously my billing address, but like you, i'm at work all day everyday...so i have everything shipped to my work place.

Not an option because I paid with PayPal. imaheadcase, maybe you lucked out and your UPS guy just doesn't care if it's signature required or not? Unless they have changed their policy in the last week...

Have you considered paying with PayPal might have them require a signature? PayPal disputes are a nasty business and typically require the shipper to have proof that their item was received by the individual, not just shipped to their door step. I've personally lost money to a scammer this way.

I'm sure if you also e-mailed them they would be willing to work with you on your order to make sure there's no signature requirement.

Good theory, but wrong. I actually spoke with Esther at NCIX and she looked into it for me, and it turns out that their official corporate policy is to always require a signature. She said she would mention changing the policy to possibly some sort of "opt-in" or "opt-out" for the signature, but as far as I know, they haven't implemented that yet.

I've inquired about this with our shipping department and unfortunately the shipping process is different in the US and our guys cannot manually select or unselect the signature option for most packages. We're still looking into it, but it'll require a huge change in not only policy, but processing.

You might check with UPS and see if you can have a neighbor receive the package and sign for it.

All the suggestions are nice but, the easier solution is just order from a company that doesn't requirer signature. If it is a great deal then it may be worth the hassle. I understand why a seller would want a signature but like all things in business they need to way the pros and cons. They will save money on fraud but loose customers due to the inconvenience. What ever works best for them but, glad this came up I'm about to upgrade a few components and was looking at trying NCIX but the signature requirement would be a pain.
