video card crashing

hey all -- i updated the drivers on my radeon x1900xtx last night and two restarts later the computer refused to display anything at boot-up. the video card fan starts up at full speed and doesn't slow down like it should, so i'm guessing it's a problem there.

can anybody help me out? i can't even get into the the bios or anything. any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks!

If its a driver problem you should be able to get in BIOS. Gfx drivers won't kick-in til Windows is loaded.

Try booting into safe mode (F8) and uninstall/reinstall.

Nothing software related is an issue in the BIOS, except for the BIOS itself and the firmware of things like the videocard. If your system isn't even POSTing, general troubleshooting would be to reset the CMOS (look in your motherboard manual) and or stripping out all but the very bare essentials to eliminate possible sources of the issue. You could also rebuild outside the case on something else like an anti-static bag to make sure metal somewhere isn't shorting out as sometimes happens with poorly mounted motherboards.

The video card fan slowing down is a function of the windows video card drivers and won't happen unitl you boot into windows. If you can boot to safe mode and run driver cleaner, or reinstall windows if you can't.
