Video card crashing when playing most games

I have a Radeon 9800 AiW Pro. Whenever I play Far Cry or F.E.A.R or several other games, it locks up and crashes after a few minutes, saying my GPU stopped responding and was reset. I figured the card was damaged or something. Then I tried playing WoW on my desktop. I can play for hours on end, no crashes.

Any ideas what's going on here? This is driving me nuts. At this point I'm almost ready to just buy a new computer.

the fan still working? cause my radeon 9800 pro crashed my entire computer it would overheat.

Do you have the latest drivers for it? Sometimes the video driver updates will fix certain bugs in games. I know NVidia driver updates do that.

Fan still works, have the latest and (theoretically) greatest drivers.

My guess is heating issues.

The only time that happened to my 9700pro, was when I was overclocking with the stock heatsink.

I was ready to do the same but got a new PSU and no crashes. Hard to tell with your problem though since wow seems to work. I have a 9500 pro, put in a 500 watt psu and not one crash (took out the 350w). I can leave the pc on for days too.
