IMO, if games are more important, then the GF3 Ti200 is the better choice. OTOH if 2D & DVD playback quality is more important, then the ATI Radeon 8500 is the better choice.
gf3 for gaming. heck its good for everything else to though the 8500 does seem better for video playback. 1 diff i do see is in canadian prices the gf3 is $325 and the 8500 is around $525. i think thats another + for the gf3
Although I was sick of Nvidia and switched to a Radeon 64meg DDR vivo a couple of years ago, In your case I would go with the gf3 ti200. Mainly for the mature drivers and stability. I switched because I couldnt stand the washed out look that Nvidia cards had. I have seen the gf3 in action and the colors are more vibrant than its predecessors. I may switch back to geforce when the prices come down on the ti500 cards. 🙂 I havent seen the 8500 radeons but I can only assume it is pretty much like the radeon 64ddr only a lot faster.
