I put number 2, because even if another company suddenly came out with a "superior" product, I would want some time to go by to make sure initial benchies, and other issues stood the "test of time". I want to have a comfort level and be well convinced before laying out the cash. Thats how I am - others can be the guinea pig!

I already have comfort level from Nvidia and ATI since they are well established and have been around a long time - relatively.

I chose: The best product at the time, even if its NOT from ATI or Nvidia

Although, previous experience with either one or the other may influence my desicion against this choice.

No option for whatever I feel like? :)

Seriously, not many people buy the 'best' card available(or the best from each respective company if anyone tries to read that as a slant). The last time I bought the best card available was over four years ago(GF-DDR), and since then the only time I thought there was a clear cut 'best' was during the R9700Pros dominance.

All the ATI Forever guys didn't own the original Radeon series (yes, I did), and all the NVidia Forever guys didn't buy an FX5800 Ultra/Rev 1 FX5600Ultra. ;)

Personally, whatever is best for my budget, regardless of company, but consider that best is really relative for everyone. People have different needs and wants.

You're stupid if you have loyalty to a company that only cares about your money. Dumb. Dense. Disillusioned. Misguided. Obtuse.

Whatever you want to call it, I guarantee they have no loyalty to you.

I had a VIVO, a Radeon 32 DDR, and a Fx 5800. Neither made me swear off either company for life. The only thing wrong with any of the above was that nVidia's own bashing of the 5800 lowered it's re-sale value.

Where's the option for the best card value at the time of my purchase? That would be mine:)

I don't care who makes it. I've had ATI, nVidia and Savage. Whatever's the best bang for the buck. Hey, I'm on a budget here and the wifey just don't like me spending on "unneccessary" pc parts. Good thing she doesn't understand the invoices what with the jargon and coding. Wifey " what the hell is this? Me " uhh, that makes the office computer run better, we need it"

Nor did they make swear ON the company for life, which was my point. For every person that might say they've had a good experience with either company, there are is likely an equal number who have had bad experiences.

Ever since 3dfx died I am neutral about videocards.

I just replaced a GF4 with an ATI 9800Pro. I would've gone for a 5900U/5950U Nvidia but they were more expensive.

I would recommend both ATI and Nvidia equally.
