Video card artifacting in CS:S

I've got an ATI Radeon 9800 and it has severed me well for about a year now. I've got no problems with it except for in CS:S. It seems to be fine in other games, like UT2K4. I suspect that is something software related, but I'd like to rule out a hardware problem.

The fan on it is spinning like normal. MBM reports my case temperature under stress @ 45C. I've got decent air flow in my case. Is there any software that can monitor my video card's temperature?

And although this is the Hardware forum, any ideas of settings to change in CS:S or on my video card? I'd read something briefly about adjusting VSync.

Thanks.

Forgot to add that I just reformatted and this is a clean install with the 4.11s. I might try the 4.12 betas. I remember the 4.8 betas really helped out Doom III. Otherwise I might not be so willing to try beta drivers.

Do you get the same problems in other Source games (HL:S, HL2, etc)? Also, does it artifact in 3DMark 03 or 05?
