Video card artifacting going from bad to worse.....

I started seeing artifacts in the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. a month or so ago. I thought it was nothing because of reports of countless bugs/glitches with the game so I ignored it. A few weeks ago, I started seeing artifacts in WarCraft 3. That's what got me worried, but again, I did not do anything until today. Because today, I started seeing several red/green dots on my desktop, internet browser and while watching movies.

So I tried several older drivers on my 7900GT SC (been running it volt-modded +0.1v @ 650/920 w/ VF900-CU for over a year without problems) but that didn't work. I would still get artifacts and messed up images in games like STALKER and Lost Planet Demo. Strangely, CSS and BF2 work flawlessly. I went to stock OC @ 550/780 but the same problems still exist but again, CSS and BF2 work flawlessly. So I updated my DX9 to the latest distributable release (June 2007) but it still didn't fix the problem. As a last resort, I took the video card out, took the cooler off and put some new AS5 on (haven't done that 8 months). Plugged the card back in, booted up my PC and suddenly my screen is filled with lines, squares, dots, IN BIOS! After the Windows screen loads, my monitor shows: NO SIGNAL and everything turns black. So with one final effort, I realize that I had not taken off the voltage mod, so I quickly pull the card out, take off the volt mod, cleaned the GPU core/cooler, re-pasted everyting, and tried booting up, but AGAIN, my screen is filled with lines, squares, dots, IN BIOS and nothing loads.

So the obvious question is, is my card dead? I have lifetime warranty since it's from EVGA, but it appears that I have encounted yet another unforseen problem. After removing the cooler for the second time, two of the screws on the VF900 cooler remain stuck on the video card mounting holes and I cannot get them off! I try unscrewing the bottom with maximum force but it just won't budge...

I dont even know what to do anymore.

Issued a RMA but I still haven't found a way to take off those 2 screws from my VF900 cooler :(.

Are you using Vista lektrix? I had NO problems ever with my EVGA 7900GT under XP, but as soon as I installed vista I had video artifacts like crazy. I was NOT able to solve the issue with anything I tried. I think it is a video driver issue, (since the problem doesn't happen in XP) but I think it ONLY is effecting evga 7900GTs for some reason.

Try the newest beta drivers on guru3d.com They say in the readme that they resolve some video artifacting maybe it will help you. I would try it my self, but I got tired of the problem and sold my 7900gt and got an 8800.
