What do you use to capture video? Whatever I use (Ulead vieo studio or something and this other generic app) does the resolution and fps very nicely, but the quality is much worse (coarser and granier) than what appears when i play the original on my tv. Any suggestions?

What capture card are you using? Also how are you capturing from the source? S-video? Composite? Coax? If you have a quality set-top box or VCR, you may be able to achieve less grainy-ness by using that as a pass-through to feed it to the capture device.

I use a firewire card by startech.com (?, I had no idea), and the supplied firewire cable. I capture from a camcorder (ZR60, it was like 200 bucks, come on).
