Video capture question?

I have a Asus v8200 GF3 Deluxe which has the Asus Live software for video capture. I took the video out from my VCR and plugged into a S-video converter and then to the S-video in on the Asus. THen I took the audio out from the vcr and put it too the line-in on my SB Live Value. Then I tried to capture some video and it works but it doesn't capture any sound. There is no sound input on the Asus so I assumed that you needed to put the sound in the line-in on the soundcard. How can I make the Asus Live software capture the sound as well? Is the Asus Live just designed for Video-only (no sound) capture? That wouldn't make sense. Could someone explain how this should work to me? Thanks.
