Video and/or audio capture card

What would be a a good hardware device that would capture video from your monitor and save it to your hard drive and a device (or software) that would capture audio (save it to hard drive).

Why are you going for a hardware option? Why don't you just use a software based solution, there's plenty of options out there.
 
Not necessarily would it just be a software solution.

What are you capturing for? Mic on audio can capture audio as can Line In. There are various solutions for video in, but what kind? Do you plan to capture audio associated with the video? Without knowing why, the solution could not be what you want.
 
situation...i am ordering a cd "natura therapy", various sounds, (I will use this in conjuntion with activities at school) the cd program is setup to where it is controlled ONLY from computer via on screen control panel. It does not allow you to save them to hard drive. I want to run various sound combinations and record them to hard drive so I can then burn them to cd or mp3 files and move them from place to place...
