FF was an okay movie, but it would have been way cooler if it just followed the story of one of the games. It didnt feel like final fantasy.

Watched the movie today at work..... knocked my socks off.
I agree that it's kinda odd since the game graphics aren't even similar to the movie graphics.... but then again, Blizzard has always had great CG movies no matter what their graphics for the game look like. I have always looked forward to their CG cut scenes.
Also... while I understand the "fear" of others to follow Final Fantasy, I do think that Blizzard is better at story telling and could relate more to an American audience. I think Final Fantasy made the mistake of not just going (at least loosely) by the Final Fantasy VII story. I think that their story was a little to "Japanese" as well... focusing on saving the planet and all is very common in anime.... but we American's aren't that interested in conservation and the lifeforce of the planet (generally speaking).
Blizzard would put out a more traditional fantasy movie.... and with amazing animation. Cost would be huge if they made it all the quality of that trailer. MMORPG's are cash cows.... so they can afford to make several minutes like that (I think that's gonna be the opening movie for the actual game... but I could be wrong).... but a whole movie would cost a ton.
