He's right about one thing, though: many atheists are arrogant and elitist and instantly condemn others who have the faith to believe in something that they can't see or prove scientifically. Not all, but a good few.

And a lot of Christians are arrogant and elitist and instantly condemn others who don't have faith in something they feel that they have no good reason to. The point is, we should each take it upon ourselves to take the high road and not generally attack others as a group. If someone spews hateful **** then we should talk to them individually, and try to convince them to respect a difference of opinion. It is insulting to Christians and atheists alike to act in such a way.

It is insulting to read threads such as the OP has started day in and day out. It needs to stop. Respect what other's think or believe and let it go. There is no need to throw s**t in other people's faces just because they simply believe in something different than you or believe in nothing at all.

Yeah, and I don't condone Christians who blow up abortion clinics or shoot gay people. But those people are antinomians and they make up a very small minority of those who call themselves "Christians." A true Christian will live his life "like Christ" and will take compassion towards those who they believe are "lost." I don't think it's proper to take a small portion of extremist individuals and apply their behavior to their entire religious sect.
The problem is that many people define "hateful ****" as any context which contradicts or challenges their beliefs. That's exactly the reason why people get up in arms when anyone mentions God or the Bible.

Also, I need mention, people who you think need "saving" probably think you need "saving" yourself..
In the end, you're just insulting them as much as they are insulting you for not believing in what is SO obviously true in your mind, vs what is so obviously true in their mind.
Bash threads or not, I have no disrespect for anyone of any ethnicity or religion. I do have disrespect for ignorant people who aren't 100% honest with themselves what they are actually preaching, whether or not they have a strong belief in it or not.
For example, the belief that if you don't believe in Jesus you are going to Hell, in my opinion is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. It's a salesman's greeting. If I was a Christian (I am not), I would be able to admit to myself this, instead of push it onto others and believe it like every other sheep.
The reason these posts are so entertaining is because absolutely nobody is able to argue 2-ways, or if someone does, nobody respects that person.

Feeling the need to insult other people's religion by calling it the "dumbest thing I've ever heard" is hardly better than feeling the need to push a religion on someone else. Heck, it is worse because the reason you do it is to be a douche while Christians do it because their religion tells them to.
