oh sh1t, its the 924 and not the 944? damn, forget it then, the 924 is ugly!!!
Aside from the flared fenders, there's no difference in how the two look. And it's the 924S, which has the 944 running gear with the slipprier and lighter 924 bodyshell.

doesn't the 944 has a bigger-displacement (and therefore better?) 2.5L 4 banger?
So does the 924
S. The 924 and 924S are very different. 924 has a 2.0 litre Audi engine. 924S has the 1985 944 2.5 litre 8-Valve Porsche-designed engine. Technically the 924S is a 1986 model, though it was released in mid 1985. The 1985.5 944 got a mild bump in compression and a slight reconfiguration of the BOSCH Motronic to give it a couple more horsepower (US trim, low 150's), while the 924S made do with the 1985.0 2.5 litre engine (US trim, 147 HP), which is why the 924S is often described as having a "de-tuned" version of the 944 engine. That's not really accurate since the 924S has a full-on 944 engine, it's just built to older specs (except for the 1988 924S, which got the full-on 1988 944 engine since production of the 924S was winding down and Porsche couldn't justify continuing production on the older 1985.0 944 engine).
The 924S also has the early (1985.0 and earlier) 944 suspension and running gear, as well as the early 944 interior. Additionally, the 924S has a shorter 5th gear in order to keep speed down so that it wouldn't have a higher rated top speed than the 944.
For 1989 the 924S was no longer available and the 944 got a 2.7 litre (bored-out from the 2.5 litre) 8-Valve engine (more torque, and HP up very slightly to 162) in the base car.
