I have a Geforce2 TI 64 mb right now and am looking to upgrade to either a 9700pro, 9800 128mb, or wait for a 9800 256mb. Money isn't a large factor but it does matter a little. And last I heard the 256mb 9800 was comming out in the middle of may, but playing planetside (and others) with everything on low for another month isn't too thrilling to me heh. So can you guys suggest what I should do? And also the 9800 256mb is going to be .13 micron DDRII right? Here are my current specs:
AMD XP 1600+ (1.4)
512 DDR 2700
Geforce2 TI 64mb

Also I forgot one more thing. What do you guys think about getting one of these ( http://www.ocsystem.com/zalzm80ahvga.html ), putting it on a 9700pro, and overclocking? From this benchmark/settings ( http://www.ocsystem.com/ocenati97pro.html ) they got the 9700pro to go faster than a 9800 and there is no fan. If you add up the price it is only $292 from ocsystem, a $114 diff from the lowest price at pricewatch. The only diff would be that it doesnt have the new 2.1 stuff and hyperzIII+. So what do you guys think I should get?

If you really want a 256MB Radeon 9800 Pro card, some of the third-party companies making Radeon boards are offering 256MB versions. I've seen them around the web but I don't know how good they are or how much they cost.

Of course, ATI's 256MB version of the 9800 Pro may have more than just extra memory... they might decide to crank up the clock speeds. But, that's purely conjecture at this point.

Seeing how I just bought a 9500Pro since the 9700s a lil more than I could spend atm, I am sure they will go down in price in a week or so ;)

I went from a GF2 Ultra 64MB to it and it is insanely better. I am getting around 13k In 3DMark2001SE, I was getting a lil under 5k. I will probalby upgrade again in December, kinda wishing I could keep my impatient self from buying a card, but... that didn't happen.

I would highly recommend Newegg if you are gonna buy online, and don't mind OEM. Think a good majority of their stuff is.

Actually if you want a good deal.

Get the sapphire 9700 non pro from newegg.com

It is $235 and has the 2.8ns samsung memory. It is a built by ati bios locked PRO.

I flashed my bios to retail and now run pro speeds no problem.
