So, after possibly the most annoying week of computer tinkering in history, my "simple" single CPU water loop is complete! Idling at 30 degrees celcius, and that's without the fans on right. (Didn't know the fans came without screws, so I have some way to long mechanical screws holding them like an inch off of the radiator, tee hee)

Yes, the pump/reservoir is also tied by a zip tie. I don't trust the sticky pad >.>
And yes, I have screws that are too long and the fans held on the screws through zip ties. This will be fixed when my new fans arrive >.<

To the OP, congrats on getting your loop working although 30C idle is kind of lame considering I do just that on a passive air cooler.

Yes, I am aware, it's three in the morning here so pictures will have to wait for tomorrow morning. As it stands now, you are right, here are my specs. Sorry to bother you, no harm intended. It wasn't meant to be a cheeky comment, just trying to be funny, and apparantly I failed

Also, is 30-35 degrees Celsius not good with my OC? It gets around 50-55 and no higher with Prime95. With my tuniq tower I was idling 47-50 degrees Celsius.

what are all the voltages you're using in bios for your Q6600 w/ the OC?

i'm using 1.45vCore, 1.3MCH Core, 2.0vRam. all others are set on auto

I actually leaked twice inside my rig, thankfully I had turned everything off, used distilled, etc.

I just kind of dabbed stuff with a paper towel and let it air out, and it was fine. I still freaked out, though

7/16th id tubing over 1/2" id barbs works the best... you'll never think about leaks...

Congratulations.

Your pump / res and rad are pretty much in the same locations as mine are.

You could always just cut down the bolts to the rad fans (using a hack saw and metal file) so that they are the correct length and don't puncture the rad fins / tubes when they are tightened fully.

From which components did your loop leak?

Both times the tubes weren't on the barbs snug enough, and when I torqued them to get the CPU block on, they came off. Nedless to say the gush of distilled water all over my x-FI and 8800GT's scared the living crap out of me. And I didn't even think of sawing them, good idea

That's what I did with the bolts on my rad fans because they had to be an odd non-standard length. Thankfully, my dad has a bench grinder, so it didn't take very long to do.

Edit: The way I did it was, that I calculated the length of the bolts by measuring from the outside face of the rad to the fins / pipes on the rad and then add the thickness of the fan to get the overall bolt shaft length measured from the underside of the bolt head. Then mark off the length on each of your bolts by wrapping a bit of masking take around the shaft of the bolt and cut and file to the edge of the masking tape.

This is a quick way of making sure all the bolts are the same and correct length.

you should always have your blocks/barbs on mounted before attaching the tube though, this avoids a lot of twisting and kinked tubes...

When I spring for my gtx 295 I'm going to WC it.

Also, wouldn't it be better to t-split the cool water coming from the radiator, send one tube to the CPU, one to the GPU, then t-split them back together into the pump/reservoir? All the pictures I've seen just have the out tube from the CPU just going to the GPU, which seems like it would send warm water to the GPU (granted, better than air, just saying).

Or is that not possible?

Also, the back of my case is lulzy. I make no attempt to make the wires clean back there, when you take the back side panel off of my case it looks like a bomb's gone off

EDIT: Good god a waterblock for a gtx 295 is 160$...

just serial it.

The pump combo i recomended is not the base model, so its more then enough for a cpu + gpu.

your radiator is also enough, just turn up your fans higher or on full blast when your gaming. On idle the gpu wont be too hot that your system wont be able to handle it.

1) Parallelizing your loop decreases flow rate to each half, so it will decrease performance. Not much heat is transferred each pass to the water, so it's not "your passing hot water to the subsequent blocks", it's more of an equilibrium temperature. You're much better off with a serial loop like Aigo said.

2) The back of my HAF is also like that. but I don't have as clean of a setup with two really long watercooled graphics cards, multiple hard drives, and too many bays filled with crap.

3) You can pick up a FC blocks for like $130, or you can find a heat sink for the RAM/VRM and then pick up something like the Swiftech MCW60-B for $40
