I don't like him either but I wouldn't verbally insult him or spit in his face. I respect the Office he holds even if I don't respect the man himself.

Good point RD. But some would find the urge to publicly display their discontent with this chickenhawk war profiteer through such civil disobedience irresistable, I'm sure, especially in light of all the respect for the office these people exhibited while President Clinton held it after clearly winning the presidency in 1992 and 1996.
So you would lower yourself to their level? Wouldn't that make you as much as an asshole as they were?
That's not what I said. I said, "But some would find the urge to publicly display their discontent with this chickenhawk war profiteer through such civil disobedience irresistable, I'm sure"

I'm parsing my words like Bush and Cheney now. I support full respect for the office of the legally elected president.

It would be nice if he resigned his senate seat, I wonder if it would be possible to elect someone new there.

certainly not a republican.

my guess is that Robert Menendez will be picking up the seat after Corzine's landslide victory.

edit: Corzine is currently leading by about 13 points. polls are fairly meaningless at this point, but with Bush's low ratings in NJ (~35% rate the job he's done as president as good-to-excellent), I'd be absolutely stupified if Corzine lost (baring unforseen circumstances).

having VP Cheney pay a campaign visit will, if anything, hurt Forrester. you can't win a blue state by appealing to a right-wing, religious conservative base that doesn't exist here.

I agree. But if he wants to be governor why is he in washington still? Switching from senate to governor then appointing your replacement is lame.
